Mount Kilimanjaro trekking

Mount Kilimanjaro Trekking

Climb Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 m / 19,341 ft), Africa’s highest peak, through five distinct climate zones—rainforest, heather & moorland, alpine desert, and the arctic summit. Treks are fully supported with professional guides, cooks, and porters. Best seasons are January–early March and June–October (short rains in November, long rains March–May). We strongly recommend itineraries with extra acclimatization days for safety and success.

Marangu Route (“Coca-Cola” Route)
  • Duration: 5–6 days (6 recommended)
  • Style: Hut accommodation (bunks) — the only route with huts
  • Vibe: Gradual slopes on ascent/descent same way; less varied scenery than western routes
  • Best for: Trekkers who prefer huts over camping and a classic, straightforward path
  • Machame Route (“Whiskey” Route)

  • Duration: 6–7 days (7 recommended)
  • Style: Camping; scenic and popular
  • Vibe: Diverse landscapes, Barranco Wall scramble, good acclimatization profile (“climb high, sleep low”)
  • Best for: Fit hikers seeking views + high summit success with an adventurous feel
  • Lemosho Route

  • Duration: 7–8 days (8 recommended)
  • Style: Camping; begins on the quieter western slopes
  • Vibe: Very scenic, low crowds at start, joins Machame near Shira/Baranco; excellent acclimatization
  • Best for: Photographers and those wanting the best balance of scenery, success rate, and fewer crowds
  • Rongai Route

  • Duration: 6–7 days
  • Style: Camping; approaches from the north (near Kenyan border)
  • Vibe: Drier, gentler gradients; fewer trekkers; different descent via Marangu side
  • Best for: Climbs during the wet season or anyone seeking a quieter, steady ascent
  • Umbwe Route

  • Duration: 6–7 days
  • Style: Camping; the steepest and most direct
  • Vibe: Fast gain in altitude with limited acclimatization opportunities
  • Best for: Very experienced, well-acclimatized hikers comfortable with steep terrain
